Pikachu's Rescue Adventure
On a quiet day in the Orange Islands, Ash, Misty, and Tracey all decide to have a nap. They release a few selected Pokemon, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Togepi, Marill, and Venonat. However, Togepi isn't sleepy and it watches as a large group of Ledibas fly by. When Togepi gets up, it falls and rolls down a hill. Pikachu wakes up immediately and follows Togepi. The other Pokemon follow as well. Meowth, on the other hand, is somewhere else, looking for a campground. Togepi comes rolling his way and they collide. The outcome is that they fall into a hole. The other Pokemon all stop and call for Togepi. Psyduck, who is behind them all, can't seem to stop running down the hill. For that, the duck collides into the other Pokemon and they fall down the hole as well. Luckily, instead of crashing when they exit the hole, large groups of Leidba carry the Pokemon to safety.
The Ledibas drop the group off in a large tree. An unsuspecting Pokemon walks out from behind, Elekid. Squirtle gets ready for a battle by putting on its shades, but Pikachu asks it to take them off.
Squirtle does so, and Pikachu looks friendly towards Elekid. Both shake hands, and out comes a wide variety of Pokemon.
Pikachu asks about Togepi, demonstrating motions. Elekid understands, then leads the Pokemon to an area where many Exeggcute nests are. They find Togepi inside a nest with five Exeggcute; one egg appears to be missing. Bulbasaur tries to take Togepi back using its vines, but an Exeggcute egg bites the Grass Pokemon. Togepi steps out to go along with Pikachu and the others, but the Exeggcute follow, thinking Togepi is one of them. Pikachu has an idea, and suggests they find the missing egg. The Pokemon agree, then leave.
The Pokemon journey through a cave, then find themselves in a field. A few Bellosum pop up and perform a dance, along with many Grass and Water Pokemon. Once the dance is finished, the Pokemon clap for their performance, but leave. Again, they find themselves in another cave. This time, there are bunches of Clefaries dancing around. As soon as they wave their fingers, Pikachu knows what's coming. All of the Pokemon go blasting off, thanks to the Metronome.
Luckily, the Pokemon land on leaves that are equipped with springs. Pikachu and Elekid begin to bounce around, but they accidentally bounce too much and are thrown into the air. Meanwhile, Meowth is stuck on a branch, just above a river with a Gyarados living in it. Pikachu and Elekid collide with the Meowth, and all three fall to the ground. Just then, the Gyarados leaps up. Pikachu, Elekid, and Meowth ride it for a while, but Meowth kicks Pikachu in the face. Pikachu retaliates by giving off an electrifying shock, which damages the Gyarados as well. Gyarados shakes the three Pokemon off its back. Meowth is the only one sent blasting off, while Pikachu and Elekid are thrown back into the tree.
After going back to the Exeggcute nests empty handed, a storm begins to pick up. Rain falls, winds blow wildly, and thunder begins to crash down from the sky. The Exeggcute nests begin to blow away. All of the Pokemon hold on with all they can, but not just one can do it alone. Other Pokemon arrive and prevent the nests from blowing away. It's still not enough, but thanks to Snorlax, the Pokemon are safe for now. Thunder begins to fall near the tree, so Pikachu climbs to the top and begins to hit the bolts away. Elekid joins him shortly after, and they both bat the thunder away. However, one bolt hits the ground, causing a fire. Squirtle and Marill quickly put it out, but the nest Togepi's in begins to blow away. Bulbasaur uses its Vine Whip to grab it, but Bulbasaur is pulled away slowly. All of the Pokemon begin to grab hold of Bulbasaur, but they begin to slip away. Snorlax is the last to grab hold, but its attention is distracted when food blows by. For a split second, Snorlax let go of Pikachu, but then gets back to business and begins to pull the Pokemon in.
The storm has seemed to settle down now, but they never did find the missing egg. A Chansey comes skipping up to the group and takes out an egg from its pouch. It just so happens to be the missing Exeggcute. All of the eggs celebrate, but the unexpected takes place. The eggs didn't notice that there was a Leaf Stone under them, and the six eggs evolve into an Exeggutor.
With everything settled down, the Pokemon all say good-bye to each other and head their separate ways. As for Meowth, he arrives at the campsite he was looking for, drenched in water. Ash, Misty, and Tracey finally wake up from their nap. The three wonder where their Pokemon are, since they aren't where they left them. Tracey is the first to notice they're all playing in the water. Ash spots them and calls for Pikachu. Pikachu and the other Pokemon all respond by jumping out of the water. Their Trainers never knew of their adventure.
The Power of One
The voice of a strange man state he is looking for the titans of ice, lightning, and fire. With them in his possession, he will be able to awaken the beast of the sea, as said in an ancient writing. His search begins by looking for the nearest titan. All three are located on their designated islands in the Orange Archipelago. The man's computer states that the titan of fire is the nearest, so Fire Island is their first stop.
A large flying machine, where the man is in, flies to an island. Ice bombs are fired out of cannons, which hit the island, freezing it over. Out of a cave, Moltres flies out and begins to fight off the bombs, using its Flamethrower. The man brings up a computerized chessboard with a few pieces on it. He uses this to fight the Legendary Bird. When Moltres cannot put up the fight any longer, a few rings form a cage and it is captured. Once Moltres is inside the flying machine, the man grins in triumph. Two more to go, Zapdos and Articuno, then the beast of the sea will arise, Lugia.
Elsewhere, Ash, Misty, and Tracey ride a boat, headed for the next Orange Island. They all decide to let their Pokemon out for a while. Following behind, as always, is Team Rocket in their Magikarp submarine. Suddenly, the sky grows dark, and schools of Magikarp leap out of the water, directing Team Rocket off course. The girl steering the boat can't control the vehicle much longer. Ash, Misty, and Tracey all recall their Pokemon quickly. Team Rocket begins to get the control of the submarine again, but they crash straight into a rock, exploding the submarine. Once the storm had died down, the group is thrown onto the shore of an unknown island.
Back in Pallet Town, Professor Oak greets Ash's mother, Delilea, and comments about how nice the weather is this day. The weather begins to change just as Professor Oak said that. It begins to rain. Quickly, Mimey, the Mr. Mime, grabs an umbrella and covers itself and Mrs. Ketchum. All of a sudden, a bunch of Digletts and Pidgey dash past the three. Snow begins to fall, confusing both Oak and Mrs. Ketchum. It's the summertime, and snow shouldn't be falling. Professor Oak knows that something must be wrong with nature, and the Pokemon can sense it as well.
The group slowly wakes up, only to find bird masked people armed with spears and sticks in front of them. Luckily, the boat driver calls out to a girl named Cathy. A bird-masked person removes her mask and greets the girl. They appear to be good friends and begin to have a chat. Cathy asks who the boy next to her friend is. The boat driver answers that he is Ash Ketchum. Ash greets them, and Cathy points to a girl nearby, it's her sister, Melody. Melody isn't dressed in a costume, she thinks that it's a dumb old tribe tradition. When Ash mentions he's a Pokemon Trainer, everyone begins to celebrate. Melody runs down to him and gives Ash a kiss on the cheek, enraging Misty a bit. Melody turns to Misty and asks if she's Ash's sister. Misty replies that she isn't, so Melody thinks she's Ash's girlfriend. Misty angrily replies with the same answer, and they are led into the city, where the festival will be held.
There, Ash, Misty, and Tracey are treated to a wide variety of fruits. The entertainment appears on stage. It's Melody, playing her ocarina. Once through with her music, Melody walks up to Ash and shows him a task he must do. First, he must collect three treasures from Ice Island, Lightning Island, and Fire Island. With those, he must then put them in a special place in order to can tame the birds of the islands. Melody adds in that it's an easy task to do, and Ash will start tomorrow. Ash, being how he is, doesn't want to wait until the next day. The boat driver enters the scene and says she's ready to leave. Strangely, Pikachu takes Ash's hat and runs off to the boat, causing Ash to follow. The driver catches up with them and asks if Ash wants to go. Ash nods, and they set off, leaving behind everyone else. Team Rocket pedals forward with what remains of their submarine, but they are thrown back into the water, thanks to the boat Ash is on, which zooms past them. Rain begins to fall and the sky grows dark. Somewhere in a cave, a Slowking watches on. The titans of ice, lightning, and fire?s rage are growing stronger, he says.
Melody watches as the strong picks up, scared that she may have sent Ash out at a bad time. Melody decides to go after him, but Misty and Tracey follow her. When noticing Misty is following, Melody asks why Misty wants to save her boyfriend. Misty snaps back that Ash is not her boyfriend, he's just a boy and a friend. Tracey catches up with the two and asks them if they're talking about him. Once the three arrive in their boat, Team Rocket leaps in and hides under covers, hoping to get Pikachu still.
Back on his flying ship, the man stares at Moltres, then out of a window. With Moltres caught, the balance of nature has been disrupted. The computer informs him that Zapdos is near, it's flying to Fire Island. The news reports the happenings of this strange weather. Somehow, a powerful current in the center of the Orange Islands has caused weather to be so strange. Pokemon from all over are moving around as well. Professor Oak and Mrs. Ketchum watch on. When Ash's mother hears that the problems are located in the Orange Islands, she grows worried about her son. Just then, Oak receives a call from Professor Ivy. In the background, running around is Brock. Ivy tells Oak that the Pokemon around the area are sure acting strange lately.
Weather begins to get a bit nicer as the rain dies out. However, the sea is rough, and it throws Ash's boat onto an island. Pikachu leaps out and runs up a set of stairs. The boat driver warns Ash to stay, but he just can't do it, he wants to collect the treasure. As for the other group, Melody rides through the waves. She explains to Misty and Tracey that she's been around boats all of her life, so they shouldn't be afraid. When it looks like they've made it through, the sea throws the boat forward. Melody, Misty, and Tracey hold on tight, but Team Rocket is thrown out.
The motor boat lands on a large rock on the island. Arriving there, the boat driver looks at Melody, surprised to see her there. Melody asks where Ash is, and the driver explains what he did. All feel they should get Ash right away. Wind begins to pick up, almost blowing the boat off the rock. Quickly, Melody pulls a lever, bringing up a sail. With the help of the wind, the group slowly goes up the stairs.
Pikachu leads the way as Ash runs up the stairs. Once at the top, a shrine-like pedestal stands before them. Inside, there is an orb with fire inside of it. Ash pulls it out after having a little struggle. While overlooking the orb, Team Rocket appears and begins their motto. Ash interrupts them, saying he has an important task on hand. They don't really care, they just want Pikachu. Suddenly, Melody's boat comes into the scene, nearly crushing Team Rocket.
More problems arise as Zapdos flies down on the island. Lightning begins to fly everywhere. Everyone takes cover, and Ash wonders why the bird is here in the first place. Pikachu fires a small volt of electricity at Zapdos. With everyone confused, Meowth translates that Pikachu is communication with the bird. He's asking what Zapdos is doing here. Zapdos answers back that he will take over Moltres' Fire Island because he isn't there. Before Zapdos can get to work, it lets out a powerful amount of electricity. Strangely, it's being absorbed into the sky. The strange collector's flying ship is absorbing the power. Once it gets into viewing distance, the group and Team Rocket are impressed by its great size. Zapdos' energy is almost drained, and that's when it begins attacking. Immediately, the rings are fired, and Zapdos is captured after putting up a brief struggle. Accidentally, however, the rings catch the boat, along with everyone else, as well.
Only Articuno remains, but the collector's computer informs him that they've picked up something else, besides only Zapdos. The collector walks over to see his extra capture, the group and Team Rocket. Ash looks around and sees the two legendary birds captured in the ring cages. When the collector approaches, Ash demands to have the birds set free. The collector introduces himself as one who collects rare things, such as the Legendary Birds. They have a small argument, and the collector just walks away after setting them free.
In a helicopter flying to the Orange Islands is a news crew, Professor Oak, Professor Ivy, and Mrs. Ketchum. The professors are being interviewed about the situation. Oak brings out a chart, explaining that the Legendary Birds maintain the weather control. If something happens to disrupt their flow, such as being captured, things begin to happen and they affect all Pokemon's behavior. At the time, it's snowing, only because Articuno was not captured. Ash's mother listens intensely to Oak. The reporter turns around and asks who she is. Mrs. Ketchum holds the microphone and says she's worried about her son in the Orange Islands, because he's near the center of all of these strange happenings.
Melody reads the ancient tablet in the collector's ship. Everyone walks over and listens to her words. The tablet says tells not to touch the titans of ice, lightning, and fire, or else the beast of the sea will be awakened. What was a legend was soon to be a reality. Ash has a feeling something bad will happen if they don't free Moltres and Zapdos, so he plans on doing just that. Pikachu begins to shock Moltres' cage. Ash lets out Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, who all join Pikachu in his attack. After a bit, Moltres' ring cage is destroyed. Moltres fires a powerful Flamethrower attack at Zapdos' cage. In one shot, it destroyed the cage, setting Zapdos free. With the two birds unleashed, they begin to fly around and destroy the flying ship, forcing it to make an emergency landing.
Everyone, except the collector, runs out of the ship, fearing for his or her life. Once it has crashed, Ash dives for cover, but another one of the orbs rolls by. Ash grabs it and sees that it's the second treasure, the orb contains lightning inside. A lightning bolt nearly hits Ash. Everyone looks up to see the three Legendary Birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres destroying the earth slowly. Before they're hurt, the group jumps into a boat. A large wave hits them hard, knocking them down and off a waterfall. Luckily, they don't drown, thanks to a rising stream of water. From it, Melody hears a strange sound, something that she's heard before.
Jesse and James search the boat and find a smaller safety boat, equipped with a propeller. Before they head off in it, a blast of water shoots up, sending everyone in different ways. Team Rocket is sent off to a mountain, while the others land on the island where the Slowking was waiting. The Slowking looks at Ash and tells him to put his treasures in a shrine-like box up ahead. Ash asks how the Pokemon can talk, but then runs off to place the treasures. Slowking walks over and notices Ash is missing one. Just then, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres bring their fight near the island. Ash steps up to them, asking if they could stop fighting amongst each other. The three birds all fire their attacks, but a cyclone of water rises from the sea, deflecting them. Out of the cyclone appears the beast of the sea, Lugia.
Lugia begins to make the noise Melody heard earlier. Now, she realizes that it is the same sound as her ocarina. Lugia begins to fight with the birds, while the collector has his sights set on the beast of the sea. He fires the rings in order to make his catch. Lugia begins to dodge quickly, but soon, the birds outnumber him and he falls straight into the sea.
Professor Oak, Professor Ivy, and Mrs. Ketchum all look out of their helicopter, noticing there are hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of Pokemon there already. Mrs. Ketchum is worried about Ash, still. Professor Ivy tells her that not only Ash is in danger, but also the whole world is. All of the Pokemon have gathered together because they have a feeling they need to do something, but they are not sure.
With Lugia as their possible last hope, Slowking recites what was written on the tablet. When all of this has happened, the world will turn to ash. The answer was written, Ash is the chosen one. Ash can't believe it, but Slowking says he must collect the last treasure in order for this chaos to end. Ash says being a Pokemon Trainer is hard enough, but saving the world is much more difficult. Melody begins to play her ocarina, and out rises Lugia, now restored. Lugia speaks, addressing Ash as the chosen one, repeating that he must obtain the last treasure. Lugia will assist Ash in his journey to Ice Island. Pikachu tugs on Ash's pants, wanting to go along. Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charizard all break out of their Pok? Balls, wanting to come along as well. Ash has many mixed emotions, so he begins to cry. However, it doesn't last long. Ash gets ready to save the world, turning his cap back wards.
Ash stumbles across the frozen land, thanks to Articuno and this heavy snow. It seems that it'll take him forever to get across, but Ash then spots pieces of Melody's boat. Quickly, he and the other Pokemon assemble a sled. Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charizard lead the way, while everyone else watches on. Team Rocket has a strange feeling overcoming them. They feel as though they will actually work as the good guys for once, but don't know how. A helicopter flies over their heads, but crashes down nearby. A propeller is what they'll use.
The road ahead seems to be steady for Ash, and behind him, Lugia follows. Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres all try to attack Ash, but Lugia flies in his way, creating a barrier to deflect all of their attacks. Lugia takes care of them, but Zapdos fires a thunderbolt in front of Ash, causing him and the Pokemon to go out of control. The Pokemon don't have the strength to go on, so Ash recalls them. Ash can't go on now, but something unexpected arrives. Team Rocket in there propelled safety boat. Jesse and James say their motto and invite Ash to jump on the boat. Confused, Ash asks why they're helping him. As they set forward to the mountain, the team answers that if the world ends, evil will. If, somehow, they were the only ones who survive, there'd be no one to steal from.
The Legendary Birds begin to attack the boat. Team Rocket uses their evasive maneuvers to dodge their attacks. After going through a cave, the group finally reaches the top of the mountain. Pikachu points at the shrine box and Ash runs over, taking out the final treasure. Above them, Zapdos and Moltres seem to be attacking Articuno. It?s a two on one attack, and Articuno falls down hard, destroying the area, including the boat. Ash and Pikachu run off, and Team Rocket follows. Lugia flies by to pick up Ash and Pikachu. They quickly jump on. Not wanting to be left behind, Team Rocket jumps off and hangs onto Lugia's leg. During the flight, Team Rocket thinks that they might be slowing Lugia down. In order to save the world, they must let go. It's a hard decision, but the three let go of Lugia's leg. Ash shouts for them, but the team has already let go. Luckily, instead of falling to their death, Jesse, James, and Meowth land in the icy ocean.
Finally, Ash and Lugia can see Slowking's island. However, their trip is suddenly stopped because Lugia is caught in one of the collector's ring cage. Lugia powers up a Hyper Beam, then fires it at the collector's ship, destroying it for good. Zapdos and Moltres are nearby, so Lugia fires another Hyper Beam at the two, knocking them out. With barely any strength left, Lugia plummets down into the water. Pikachu finds Ash lying in the water unconscious. Lugia, still sinking, thinks that he's failed. The others on Slowking's island want to help. Melody asks Misty to hold her ocarina, but Misty volunteers to rescue Ash, since playing the ocarina is Melody's job. Misty dives into the water and slowly brings Ash back to the shore. Once rescued, Misty pumps on Ash's chest, asking if he's awake. Ash's eyes slowly begin to open. Tracey tries to help Ash up, but he refuses any assistance. He must do this alone. Ash gets to his feet slowly and begins to ascend the stairway to the top, where he will place the final treasure. Slowking greets Ash and tells him to quickly put the last treasure. Ash does so and a green liquid begins to flows out from the pedestal. Melody begins to play the tune on her ocarina. Everything begins to come back together. The Legendary Birds wake up and all fly in the air. The sky begins to clear up and the area where the group is standing in blooms with Hibiscus. A cyclone of water rises and Lugia comes out of it. Lugia flies over to Ash and tells him to get on. Ash gladly does so and mounts up on Lugia's back. While Melody continues her tune, Lugia flies around with the Legendary Birds.
All of the Pokemon begin to leave, and the strange current begins to disappear. Lugia flies back down to the island and lets Ash off. They say their good-byes, but before leaving, Lugia reminds Ash and everyone else not to speak of him again. Ash speaks for everyone and agrees. Lugia says good-bye to the chosen one, then dives back into the water. Mrs. Ketchum runs up from behind Ash and hugs him. Ash is surprised to see his mom, Professor Oak, and Professor Ivy. Mrs. Ketchum was so worried about her only son; he could have been in serious danger. Misty explains he was just saving the entire world, but Mrs. Ketchum tells everyone that Ash is the whole world to her. If she lost him, she wouldn't know what to do. With that said, Mrs. Ketchum tells her son to just stick with trying to become a Pokemon Master instead of getting caught up in these kind of situations. Professor Oak can't wait to tell all the other researchers about this, so he runs off, telling Mrs. Ketchum and Professor Ivy to come along.
That night, the collector looks around the debris of his ship. His finding is the first thing that had gotten him into collecting, the Ancient Mew card. Meanwhile, Team Rocket crawls onto the Slowking's island. Slowking greets them, but the team complains about no one seeing them being the heroes. Slowking cheers them up; there were many people that have seen them. All are watching them right now. Team Rocket looks at the screen and can't believe it. However, if the boss sees this, it'll be bad. Jesse continues to go over the pros and cons, while James just agrees with her, saying that it's either good or bad, depending on what she says.
The Next Summery is from The Universal Pokemon Network, which is now closed. This is mostly translated, but some of it is still in Japanese.
The Power of One
Jirarudan is a Pokemon collector out to capture the most rare and mysterious Pokemon of all, Lugia. No one has ever see it, but it is written that it will appear when all three of the Legendary Birds are brought together in one place. It is for this reason that each bird has its own Island.
Jirarudan approaches the Island of Moltres in the Hikoukyu. He attacks it with ice, freezing the island and injuring Moltres. Weakened, Jirarudan is able to capture Moltres using an electric net. The flying fortress moves on toward the island of Zapdos, and the weather begins to take a turn for the worst...
Ash, Kenji, and Misty are riding a boat (piloted by Mic-chan, a guide) to Asia Island. They have just let their Pokemon out of their balls to relax when a storm blows in. Their ship is badly shaken, but Mic-chan manages to get it into the port (all but destroying it in the process).
Team Rocket are following Ash in their submarine, the Mecca-Gyarados, and are hit by the same storm. They hit something and lose their rudder. Helpless, they are swept up in a school of REAL Gyarados, which carry them towards the port but land them on the rocks instead...
Misty's mom is out on her front lawn when Professor Oak comes up on his bike, commenting on the nice weather. Out of nowhere, a herd of Digletts come down the road, picking up Oak's bike and carrying it with them down the road. Behind the Digletts come another huge group of Pokemon, heading in the same direction, South. Dumbfounded, the two notice that it has started to snow even though it is the middle of the summer...
Having landed at Ashia Island, Ash and his friends get off the damaged boat, only to be surrounded by a group of strangely dressed people. One takes off his mask and explains that there is a festival going on to celebrate the Pokemon Gods.
They are introduced to Furura, the Miko (a young girls who acts as the messenger for the gods) for the ceremony. She seems to like Ash, but gets on Misty's bad side (she first asks if Misty is Ash's sister, then his girlfriend.) The group leaves the beach for a pavilion where the ceremony will take place.
Since Ash revealed himself as a Pokemon trainer (apparently the only on on the island at the time...), during the festival; he is chosen to go to the islands of the Legendary Pokemon to retrieve their power crystals. Apparently, the weather disturbances are caused by an unbalance in their powers, and bringing all three stones to a stone circle on the main island will calm these forces.
Never catch a god of fire, a god of thunder, or a god of ice.
If you do, it will evoke their anger and the marine god would
destroy Heaven and Earth. The world would fall to ruins.
Mic-chan and Ash set out on the boat (apparently it wasn't THAT damaged...) to the Island of Moltres on the stormy sea...
Upon reaching the island, Ash runs from the boat up the stairs to the top of the mountain, where Moltres's shrine is located and where he will find the power crystal... Misty and Furura decide to follow the others in a faster (very spiffy) boat. Of course, the waterlogged Team Rocket manage to hitch a ride... They are thrown from the boat when it hits a big wave, but end up near the top of the mountain. They are at the top of the stairs up the mountain (beginning their speech) when Furura's boat (propelled up the mountain stairs by a wind sail) jumps over them and into the depression on top of the mountain. Ash has gotten the stone and is getting ready to get into the boat for the trip back down when who should appear... Zapdos! He is looking for Moltres, scared of something. He begins shooting out Thunderbolts, his way of communicating. Pikachu begins to thunderbolt back, explaining why they are there and what they know. Their conversation is cut short when something from about begins to draw Zapdos's electricity away...
Jirarudan's ship is overhead, and Zapdos flies up to try to attack it. Jirarudan's magnetic cages begin flying towards they, eventually snaring Zapdos (and Ash and their boat as well... Jessie and James too).
Jirarudan's net drops Ash on the floor of a great hall. They see both Zapdos and Moltres trapped still, Zapdos fighting the new bonds, but Moltres has submitted and is sitting quietly. Furura notices a copy of the stone tablet (which is in a shrine on Asia Island) between the cages of the birds. On it is the legend of the God of the Sea, Lugia. Jirarudan's computer notified him of his "guests," and he came down to explain his plan (like any good villain). He returns in his hydraulic chair to the bridge (above the great hall) when he is notified that they are approaching the Island of Articuno.
Somewhere during all of this, I don't know where, Professor Oak consults with his friend, the breeder whom Brock has gone to live with. She agrees to meet him to take a helicopter to the Orange Islands in order to find out what is causing all of the weather fluctuations.
Brock is seen running around in the background when he is talking to her, carrying Nidoran back and forth. Ash's mom also insists on coming along to make sure he is OK.
Determined to stop Jirarudan from creating a permanent unbalance in the world by capturing Lugia, Ash decide to free Zapdos and Moltres. They bring out all of their Pokemon and begin to work on Moltres first. The Rockets send their Pokemon out at Zapdos. The combination of water, fire, and electric attacks causes an explosion, and Moltres's cage is broken. Immediately Moltres lets out a huge burst of flame at Zapdos's cage, freeing him.
Pokemon from all over the world are traveling as far south as they can get, those who cannot fly or swim sit anxiously at the southernmost shore they could reach. They seem to sense the struggle between their gods... The weather keeps getting colder as Articuno's powers are getting out of control.
Zapdos and Moltres break their way out of the airship, and meet up with Articuno (who was so upset he had frozen the entire sea). Together they begin to attack the airship. Damaged badly and getting worse, the airship crashes into the Island of Zapdos. Ash run from the ship as it breaks apart. It has crushed the Shrine containing the orb of Zapdos's power, and the ball rolls over. Ash picks it up and keeps running. Somehow they all manage to get back into the broken boat (the one captured with them on the airship). The ship falls from the cliff, but a mysterious spout of water catches it an deposits it at the shrine on Asia Island...
Team Rocket inflate the emergency raft on the boat and sit in it, feeling a bit safer until the spout of water came up. Their raft was tossed from the boat and flew away... After the boat lands, everyone jumps out, and the boat falls to the frozen sea below.
Professor Oak is being filmed by a news crew in the helicopter to the Orange Islands. he explains that the "gulf stream," the path all the world's water flows through among the islands, is normally controlled by the balance of powers among the bird gods. The disruption in that balance was causing the terrible weather fluctuations being felt throughout the world. The film crew happens to catch Ash's mom, and she explains she is there because her son is in this dangerous area.
Just as they are finishing the interview, the helicopter is caught in a huge gust of wind and is propelled into the mountain on Asia Island below. All get out safely, but Ash's mom worries about her son...
Ash brings the two power orbs to the shrine, and places them in their corresponding places inside the shrine. Slowking comes up behind him and expresses concern that he has only found two of them. Ash is about to leave to get the other orb, when the three bird gods begin to attack him. As one of the birds dives towards them (Ash bravely stepping out in front to protect the others), the strange spout of water comes up and gets in the way, only this time, Lugia appears out of the top of the spout.
Lugia begins to fight with the birds, when Furura recognizes the sound he is making. It is the same as the music she has learned for the festival, the music said to be used to call the gods. All three birds attack him at once, and he falls under the ice...
Furura plays a few notes on her flute, which revives Lugia. Lugia bursts from the ice and flies over, talking about what they need to do to get the world back into order (basically, "you have to go get the third orb and put it in the shrine in order to save the world").
Ash reluctantly agrees to go, and starts out on foot towards the Island of Articuno. He realizes quickly that the snow on top of the ice is way too thick for him to walk, then notices the wreckage of the boat. He has an idea... Charizard, Bulbasaur, and Pikachu now pull Ash on an improvised sled (made of part of the boat). The birds begin to attack from above, but Lugia flies in and shields them. They are about halfway across the sea, when a huge attack from Moltres and Articuno causes the ice to break up under them, and freeze again. There is now a huge iceberg in front of him, and Ash doesn't know what to do. From behind he hears a noise... it is the Team Rocket, who have taken the tail blade from the crashed helicopter and fastened it to their emergency raft, creating a hydrofoil. They give their speech again, and motion Ash and Pikachu (the others went back into their balls) to get in.
All of the Pokemon who had been lined up on shore now are running across the ice towards the battle. There are literally thousands here now (computer animated when looked at from above).
Lugia provides cover while the group blasts across the ice and up the path on the mountain towards the shrine. The have to go inside a very long cave to get to the shrine, and Ash runs up to the statue and grabs the orb. He jumps back into the raft to make the way back when Articuno, having been injured by one of the other birds, crashes through the roof and demolishes the shrine. The destruction of the room also blocked off the escape route through the cave. Lugia swoops down and tells Ash to get on his back. Ash does so, and Lugia takes off (the Rockets hanging from his leg)
Lugia is having trouble now dodging the attacks of the Bird Gods, and decides to go way up high to try to lose them. He can't go fast enough, and the Rockets realize they are weighing him down too much. They let go, saying they have done all they could to "Protect the world from devastation." As they plummet, they remember that the sea is frozen and they think they'll die when they hit, but when they reach the sea, they plunge into the water. When they surface they see that the gathered Pokemon have broken a hole in the ice to save them.
Ash nears Asia Island with Lugia, when Jirarudan (does the guy ever quit?) focuses in on them with his trapping machine and sends out the electric traps at Lugia. Lugia destroys many of them as the try to capture him, but they move too fast and eventually snare him. Lugia lets out a huge beam from his mouth at Jirarudan and what remains of his ship, destroying it and de-electrifying the cage/nets. Worn out, Lugia falls into the ice, breaking through and sinking...
Ash surfaces, but is unconscious. The friends on the shrine above are scared, and argue about who should go save him. Furura is about to go, but Misty says it is her job. She runs down the slope and drags Ash from the water; he doesn't seem to be breathing (we almost thought something was coming here, but it didn't happen), but manages to come to in a moment. Ash insists on climbing the slope himself as part of his quest, and finally gets to the shrine and places the last stone in the shrine. By now, all of the birds have fallen exhausted to the ground.
Ash places the third power orb in its place in the shrine, causing a reaction between the three which makes the shrine glow. Furura now takes a step into the center of the shrine (it looks like stone hence, with the platform in the middle with the prophecy stone and the receptacles for the power orbs). She begins to play the Festival song, which magically brightens the sky and makes water flow over the shrine ledge, making all of the grass grow again through the snow and flowers bloom. Each of the stone monoliths glows when she hits a different note on the flute, and the healing of the song begins to spread over the water. The Bird Gods begin to wake up, and all of the gathered Pokemon begin to rejoice. After a seeming long wait, Lugia himself rises from the water. He thanks them all for their help, and asks Ash to once again ride on his back. As the two (and Pikachu) fly, Lugia summons the damaged gulf stream up into the air, eventually placing it back down where it belongs. All of the Bird Gods return to their islands, and the gathered Pokemon all begin to return home (the land ones riding on the backs of water ones).
When Ash and Lugia land, Ash asks if he will ever see him again. Lugia says he is looking forward to it, but that Ash will have to catch him on his own. They both have their own duties, but should their paths cross again he will be glad.
When Lugia leaves (returning into the ocean water), Ash's mom and the others climb down the mountain onto the cliff, relatively unscathed. Ash's mom berates him for once again getting himself into a dangerous situation, but she is glad that he is OK.
